Derek Baker has joined Fisk Brett as a Project Consultant, to complement the team that carries out the analysis and implementation of new customer's projects. Actually, it's a ‘rejoin' as Derek has been at Fisk Brett before. Following eight years of providing support and bespoke database development and training, he'd joined in 1997 to implement Progress for several wildlife and health charities.
But Derek then moved on to work for a leading charity in the care sector; primarily in IT Support but involving everything from hardware, software, infrastructure, networks, applications, and training. Over 10 years there, Derek guided the charity through numerous technology changes, recruiting and developing an IT team of four staff; whilst providing advice and guidance on all IT related matters to senior managers throughout the organisation.
Now back at Fisk Brett, Derek says "I've seen lots of change over the years- I started in IT back in the mid eighties, with the first IBM PCs and the first 286 and 386 based machines". Today, Derek's skills are ‘client facing', advising on how IT can best be used to meet business requirements. He'd kept an eye on developments at Fisk Brett over the years and felt that there was an opportunity to bring something into the mix. "Before first joining Fisk Brett in 1997, I'd been involved in selecting Progress3 for a client" recalls Derek. "Now I'm working with ProgressCRM V5.1, and it's amazing to see just how good it has become".
